World Gym has over 215 ultimate fitness destinations across 20 countries and 6 continents. One of those fitness destinations is located right here in Desert Hot Springs on the corner of Palm Drive and Acoma. This week, we place the spotlight on owner Andrew Levine.

Desert Hot Springs World Gym

Owner Andrew Levine (left) has been a mainstay in the fitness industry for decades. Andrew is a tremendous asset to our city; he has owned the DHS location since 2016, and has positioned World Gym as a ‘go to’ places for quality fitness training in our city.

I had a chance to discuss a few things with him concerning his career and the club. “After 25 plus years as an executive for 2 of the largest multi club chains in New York and Florida, I began to concentrate more on consulting to gyms and personal training organizations all over the U.S, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc. As a consultant I did a project for World Gym and the owners of those gyms in the Coachella Valley subsequently offered me an opportunity to oversee their clubs. I moved to the desert in 2007 to take the position of VP of World Gym for [the] Indio, La Quinta, Palm Desert and Desert Hot Springs [clubs]”.

He thoroughly enjoys the diversity seen on his gym floor on a daily basis. This is evident by the abundance of program offerings. “My staff and I are committed to help facilitate positive change. We make our memberships extremely affordable and work with multiple insurance carriers to offer totally free memberships. Over 350 of our current members of all ages and conditions use our facility at no charge to them through programs such as: Silver Sneakers, Silver & Fit, and Active & Fit. In addition to offering specialty senior classes we also have custom fitness classes for local children ages 5 to 12.

Why do you LOVE DHS?

“For me beyond the beautiful sunsets and great authentic Mexican food of course, it’s all about the people. I love the diversity of cultures, races and religions in DHS. There is a fierce sense of pride in the community by the people who live and work here…. Last but not least, as an animal lover I really enjoy how the people of this city make the care and happiness of their pets such a priority.”

In closing, Mr. Levine has become quite fond of our city, “I respect how hard working the diverse population of DHS is. So many of my members are solid citizens, with great civic pride, an amazing work ethic, and a wonderful commitment to faith and family….that is the bottom line for me. He concluded the interview by saying that he is inspired to contribute to a healthier DHS both now and in the future.
