Resident Perspective- Greta Carter

Meet Greta Carter!
Greta Carter is the founder of High Road Consulting Group. She is a highly accomplished executive and according to High Road’s website she began her executive career, “…in traditional business with a 15-year stint in the highly regulated world of banking, Greta successfully launched multiple start-up businesses and managed projects with budgets often exceeding $80 million.” While her resume is impressive, her love for DHS is equally inspiring.

What about and why do you love DHS?

“There are a million reasons I love DHS – but on top of the list – is how the local community opens their arms to you when you first arrive! My husband I commuted many times that the first few months we were invited to more dinners and house parties than we had ever been COMBINED in all the other places we have lived. DHS has a small town mind set – you run into the mayor and city council members- just simply shopping – there is a lot of comfort in that when you are new to the community.”

The diversity of DHS impressed her early on! She added, “The heavy influence of the Latino community also made us love this city! GREAT restaurants, churches and events geared towards family values.”

Home values anyone? Views?

“Don’t even get me started on the amazing views. Hiking trails abound – and we are only a 2 hour drive from LA, Sand Diego the other way and then 4 hours to Phoenix and Vegas – so lots of day trips and getaways when you want them….. Housing is still affordable which is another reason we moved here, but I wouldn’t wait to long – the secret is getting out!”

Where do you see this city in the future?

“I could see immediately that DHS is a diamond in the rough. It just needs people willing to jump in to make it all that it can be. I’m actually in the cannabis industry and it was the very first city to open it’s arms to our industry with regulations and opportunities. In just the past 2 years we have seen amazing growth and investments into the community. [Additionally]We have seen crime drop and city revenue increase.

Thank you Greta for your time and commitment to advancing DHS!

As we shift gears and begin to prepare for the return of some normalcy, it can’t be understated enough that for some normal may never return. For some the opportunity to take part in once-in-a-lifetime events has been taken away.
